Wolfing down bowls of garlic-flavored ice cream isn't for everyone. If you're skipping Delray's Garlic Fest this weekend but still want to chow down, Deck 84 hopes to entice you with their new, breath-friendly brunch menu items.
As you know, brunch is merely a thinly veiled excuse to drink even
earlier in the day without the nagging worry of being judged harshly by your peers. At Deck 84's Build-Your-Own Bloody Mary Bar, diners can customize their Bloody Mary with over twenty ingredients all of which, with practice,
can be skillfully arranged in a glass. For one crisp Hamilton, booze hounds guests receive a 20 oz. glass half full of Vodka and are tasked with filling it with
pickled, spicy, and salty delights like bacon, pickled okra, and stuffed Spanish
olives.
Sadly, the Bloody Mary bar is only open on weekends, from 11:30 a.m. to 2
p.m., but on Sundays you can start drinking at 11 a.m., that's right even earlier.
The Bloody Mary bar isn't a new feature at Deck 84 but let's face it,
you were secretly hoping it wasn't nixed it from the Brunch menu.
In addition to their regular brunch fare like mushroom omelets and Eggs
Benedict, Deck 84 has added new items -- " Chef Jon's "24 Hour"
French Toast and a variety of flatbreads.
Chef Jon's "24 Hour" French Toast is made
with thickly sliced brioche that is soaked for in a rich custard and
cooked to order then topped with Oregon wild berries and dusted with
powdered sugar.
A variety of new flatbreads have also been added to the restaurant's
brunch menu with a host of toppings from brie and pear to the smoked
salmon flatbread, a play on a bagel with Lox. The smoked salmon
flatbread is topped with an herb cream cheese, pickled red onions, and
capers. Admittedly, smoked salmon with pickled onions is not exactly
breath-friendly but it still won't stay with you for quite as long as
garlic.
On weekends, Deck 84 also features live music starting at 2 p.m.on their outside patio which overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway. If you're headed to Delray this weekend, and judging by a recent New Times poll, you are, Deck 84 invites you to enjoy a cocktail, the view and try out their new brunch items.
