If you've had dreams of some kind of sensuous treat — not zucchini, fettuccine, or bulgur wheat but a big, warm bun and a huge hunk of meat — then a cheeseburger in paradise might be just the remedy, heaven on Earth with an onion slice.

And you'll finally be able to find one at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, which just opened on the Hollywood beachfront.

Over the past few years, if you've taken a drive down the two-mile stretch of A1A in Hollywood or strolled the city's beachside Broadwalk, it's impossible to miss the looming, 17-story twin towers of the new Margaritaville complex, what is gearing up to be Buffett's biggest, baddest vacation resort destination yet.

"We're really looking forward to welcoming locals for a taste of the good life."

When the custom-built Margaritaville opened its doors October 1, the sprawling resort grounds featured the brand's most beloved — and innovative — destination attractions, Buffett's own paradise getaway that South Floridians are hoping will breathe new life into Hollywood's long-stagnant beach scene.

"As a longtime resident and member of the Hollywood Beach business community, I can say with certainty that the vibe and culture of Hollywood Beach absolutely embodies the Margaritaville lifestyle," says Margaritaville project developer Lon Tabatchnick. "And it is just that — it's not a theme; it's a lifestyle. The two are a perfect match. The destination has gone through an incredible evolution in the past few years and in many ways already features the unique, authentic, no-worries tropical vibe the Margaritaville brand is known for."

Such high hopes come after years of planning, of course. The new resort has been a long time coming, a construction process that's lasted well over two years but was conceived almost a decade ago, adds Tabatchnick.

Designed to offer an extensive array of amenities and topnotch service, this new oceanfront resort is considered a prime locale for Buffett lovers, located just minutes from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Port Everglades. It's what Tabatchnick says is the perfect setting for guests and locals to escape the everyday "and just chill."

Now, eight years later, the brand's fifth resort welcomes its first guests this month, patrons eager to kick off the sandals and soak up the South Florida sun. And they'll be doing it in style: The Hollywood Beach Margaritaville grounds include 349 rooms, a state-of-the-art spa with 11 private treatment rooms, 30,000 square feet of flexible office space, and three pools with a custom-built FlowRider, what stands as the most expansive waterscape you'll find at any Margaritaville resort.

Locals, however, are more excited to put back a few margaritas — and maybe a cheeseburger in paradise — with the resort's well-known food and beverage program, a total of eight concepts that cover everything from a casual coffee and grab 'n' go breakfast shop to fine seafood and steak dining, and — of course — a bar where it's always 5 o'clock.

"We're really looking forward to welcoming locals for a taste of the good life with our spectacular arrangement of diverse food and beverage venues at Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort," says Cate Farmer, the resort's general manager. "We've got a few classics that Margaritaville fans will know and love but are also introducing a few unique new dining and entertainment concepts as well."

Inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of Buffett, each of the resort's bar and restaurant menus will be executed under executive chef Andres Teran, a 15-year career veteran with experience from the Alexander Hotel in Miami Beach to Ocean Point Resort & Spa in Sunny Isles, Morton's Steakhouse in North Miami, and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Westin in Fort Lauderdale.

The Hollywood resort's eateries include several unique concepts that are not only new to the Margaritaville brand, says Farmer, but are also exclusive to the Hollywood resort:

JWB Prime Steak and Seafood
That includes JWB Prime Steak and Seafood, a concept you'll find only at the Hollywood Beach Resort, named after James William Buffett himself. The 142-seat restaurant will be open to both resort guests and locals alike, offering a laid-back — yet extra-luxe — dining experience. The menu will offer contemporary selections focusing on meat and fish, including spear-caught bounty, a raw bar, and prime steaks paired with world-class wines and handcrafted cocktails. Expect to find some of the area's seasonal favorites at JWB as well, like fresh-caught Florida stone crab, an assortment of sea-to-table delicacies, and specialty sushi rolls.

Floridays Airstream Café
Next up: Floridays Airstream Café, named after the 1986 Buffett album and song. Here, Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort is debuting yet another new and unique concept: the resort chain's only poolside food truck, serving food and drink from a refurbished Airstream. Just steps from the beach, the menu features quick service selections, from premium hot dogs and hamburgers to a number of unique beverages inspired by Buffett's travels. Those include a rainbow's worth of fruit-infused, nonalcoholic lemonades. We like the sound of the Hula Girl (a hot dog topped with grilled pineapple onion relish, garlic aioli, and applewood bacon) paired with a potent Hawaiian Lightnin' (Ole Smoky White Lightnin' and Hunch Punch moonshine mixed with passionfruit, banana, and blackberry purée, and a splash of grenadine).

Lone Palm Beach Bar
No shirt? No shoes? That's no problem at the Lone Palm Beach Bar, the resort's quintessential, flip-flop-friendly, thatched-roof tiki bar offering walk-up Broadwalk service for beachgoers as well as poolside service for resort guests. Sip on beer or a number of unique tiki-style cocktails — either shaken or stirred — like the Tsunami, Margaritaville's own coconut rum mixed with banana liqueur, fresh watermelon purée, and pineapple juice. You can also grab a bite with a menu that offers lighter options like the Calypso chicken salad — a spring mix tossed with strawberries, pineapple, mandarin oranges, apples, red onion, and candied almonds in a citrus vinaigrette.

LandShark Bar & Grill
Well-known to drinkers of the beer, LandShark Bar & Grill — inspired by the traditional beach bars of the Atlantic Coast — will deliver a more casual, alfresco scene with salads, sandwiches, and entrées like fried shrimp baskets or lobster mac 'n' cheese. Here, guests can relax on the oceanfront deck while sipping a beer cocktail, frozen drink, or fish-bowl-sized boat drink cocktail while enjoying panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean or watching adrenaline junkies go head-to-head at the resort's FlowRider double wave-surfing machine.

License to Chill Bar
A destination unto itself, the resort's 11th-floor rooftop terrace features the License to Chill Bar. You'll have to be a guest or private event attendee to dine and drink here, although it might be worth the stay just for a chance to relax with drink in hand by the pool with an uninterrupted view of Hollywood Beach. The menu serves finger food and full beverage service daily, light fare including shareable options like chip and dips, fruit plates, and cheeseboards or heartier fare like fish tacos and cheeseburgers.

Five O'Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill
Cross A1A from the ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway and you'll find Five O'Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill, a separate café that centers on the resort's watersports program, serving as both a water taxi stop and the launchpad for Margaritaville's watersport rentals and excursion tours. The rustic indoor-outdoor dockside bar will serve bar snacks, drinks, and live entertainment daily, with breathtaking sunsets over the water by a cozy fire pit.

Margaritaville Coffee Shop
Guests and locals alike can start their day with a cup of coffee at Margaritaville's signature Margaritaville Coffee Shop, located in the resort's lobby. The café specializes in the usual morning essentials, from breakfast sandwiches, croissants, and pastries to a variety of hot and cold coffee and tea-based beverages.

Margaritaville
Of course, what would Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville be without its namesake establishment, based off the song that started it all? The newest location is an escape to paradise — any day, any time — with coastal-inspired, made-to-order dishes and handcrafted cocktails. Here, you can order the seafood mac 'n' cheese entrée, shrimp and lump crabmeat with cavatappi pasta in a Boursin cream sauce, and then drown away your worries with the Uptown margarita, the resort's most upmarket margarita, made with Margaritaville gold tequila and Cointreau orange liqueur and topped with a Gran Gala float. Live entertainment is the final ingredient to this two-story paradisiacal concoction, a varied lineup that offers something for everyone while overlooking the resort's roaming poolscape.

Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort and Hotel is located at 1111 N Ocean Dr, Hollywood. Call 954-874-4444, or visit margaritavilleresorts.com.
