G & B Oyster Bar has quietly opened, helmed by the folks behind Coconuts in Fort Lauderdale and perched next door. G & B is a reference to owner Elliott Wolfe's children, Gates and Bennett. (It also seems to be inspired by Barbara Lynch's B & G Oysters in Boston.)

During last night's visit through Tuesday, the restaurant will offer a short list of small plates. The full menu will debut January 11.

Whitewashed wood, metal chairs, concrete floors, tile, and an open layout evokes Kodbyens Fiskebar in Copenhagen. I agreed with my friend that the tone is akin to Tap 42. No matter where you live, be it Miami, San Francisco, or abroad, industrial design that leans toward minimalism is the look of the moment.

The oyster bar is aligned with blue tiles to evoke the sea. It won't be stocked until Wednesday.

The bar's design is more stark than its sibling's.

The space abuts Coconuts and shares its kitchen.
