The workweek is finally over, and the weekend is here. With the snowbirds flown off home, South Florida belongs to the locals once again.
While it's still nice and uncrowded, let's shake things up with Saturday brunch instead of Sunday, partying like a native at the zoo, and hanging out in one of our most historic hotels while celebrating the second anniversary of one of our newest bars.

As you get older, it's so much harder to hang on a Sunday. Saturday is a wiser option for drinking while breaking the fast. Come out to this week's special Boozy Brunch, hosted by New Times, i.e. us. Enjoy free American Mule drinks from American Harvest Organic Vodka. Upgrade to bottomless Bloodys and Bubbles for $15 per person. Munch on crispy chicken sliders, red velvet pancake skewers, stuffed French toast with banana foster, and mini-old-school meatballs. It's free, but you must RSVP in advance.
4. Lyrical, Ink in June featuring the Dada National Poetry Slam Team at Harold's Coffee Lounge

The best of the best of South Florida poets are trying to make their way to the National Poetry Slam in California, and they will be bringing their words to the stage at Harold's Coffee Lounge tonight. They are sharing their talents in hopes to raise funds for the trip. There will also be the usual open-mic acts as well as Valerie Lynda from Inner Beauty Photography making art in the moment. 3. TogaFest in Downtown Lake Worth

Get drunk in a towel (or sheet) on Saturday. Third Eye Adventures is hosting TogaFest in Lake Worth. For $10 in advance, $15 at the door, the event includes free drinks and specials at several Lake Worth bars. Registration takes place at Igot's Martiki Bar. Participating bars include Dave's Last Resort, Igot's Martiki Bar, South Shores Tavern, Brogues Downunder, Rhum Shak, Little Munich. Register the night of at Igot's Martiki Bar. 2. Roar & Pour: Parrothead Night featuring Jimmy Stowe & The Stowaways at the Palm Beach Zoo

The Palm Beach Zoo is inviting you to come out for Roar & Pour this Saturday. Enjoy live music, food, and drink service from 5:30 p.m. in the Fountain Plaza as well as up-close animal encounters and zookeeper talks. Sway the night away to Jimmy Stowe & The Stowaways, South Florida's favorite Jimmy Buffett tribute band while sipping on Jimmy Buffett's own Landshark beer and Margaritaville rum and tequila drinks.

the Las Olas bar and eatery is commandeering the lawn of the Riverside Hotel (right across from the restaurant) for the day. The family-friendly event features an open bar, plenty of barbecue and other food, give-aways, and live entertainment throughout the afternoon and evening. Chris McCarty and DJ Supersede will be performing live. And to honor more of 'Murica - and soccer - the World Cup will be broadcast live on a big screen.
