Five Best Food and Drink Events This Weekend: Lake Worth Street Painting Fest, Great Doggie Dine-Out, and More

Congratulations, you made it through yet another working week. You might as well give yourself a pat on the back to celebrate -- or better yet, a drink or three.

Whether you want to attend the 21st-annual Lake Worth Street Painting Fest, raise some money for a charity with your pooch, or want to see a Broadway show, there's something for you to do in South Florida this weekend.

5. Night of Broadway Stars

If you feel like doing some charitable work this weekend, you might want to check out the one-of-a-kind event taking place this Saturday benefiting Covenant House Florida's shelter for teens. The event will feature a silent auction, lavish dinner stations, cocktails and reception toast, and a Broadway performance. Tickets are $225 per person and includes food, cocktails, and the show. 4. MindBody Expo 2015

If learning to lead a healthier lifestyle is part of your mission statement these days, you might want to check out the MindBody Expo in Delray Beach. This family-friendly holistic event will feature an action-packed day of educational exhibits and events including a show by comedian Isabella Patty; a Zensorium VIP lounge sponsored by TAP Global Beer Collection; healthy food and cold-press organic juices; industry expert speakers; yoga for beginners; fitness demos and education; super foods and supplements; cooking demos and tastings; and more. Passes must be purchased for access to the event. The MindBody Expo takes place this Sunday, February 22, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Delray Marketplace. 3. 12th-Annual Polynesian Cultural Festival

This weekend, the 12th Annual Polynesian Cultural Festival returns to Jaco Pastorius Park in Oakland Park. Expect plenty of authentic Polynesian culture, including shows, hula dancers, island music, a hula contest, ukulele exhibition, South Pacific arts and crafts, and more. Best of all, there will be plenty of delicious food from the Polynesian Islands to sample along the way. The Polynesian Cultural Festival runs Saturday and Sunday, February 21 to 22, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jaco Pastorius Park is located at 4000 N. Dixie Highway, Oakland Park.

2. The Great Doggie Dine-Out and Paws Fest

This weekend support the Tri-County Animal Rescue and promote pet adoption with the Great Doggie Dine-Out and Paws Fest in Boca Raton. The event will feature a number of free Paws in the Park Activities activities for both two- and four-legged fans from the kick-off opening ceremonies that include a TCAR parade of alumni pups and their families, yoga and massages for dogs and their owners, a first-ever Great 'Smooch Your Pooch' Challenge, and Yappy Hour Singles Speed Dating With Dogs. There will also be curbside dining by Gourmet Truck Expo, a Tails & Tales Showcase featuring pet-centric vendors and event sponsors, contests and prizes, entertainment with doggie dancing and an after-dusk big screen movie-in-the-park pet feature film presentation. The Great Doggie Dine-Out takes place on Saturday, February 21, in Boca's Sanborn Square Park from noon to 9 p.m. Sanborn Park is located at 72 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton.

1. Lake Worth Street Painting Festival

Downtown city streets were once the gathering place for the people. As cities and towns became less pedestrian-friendly (and with the advent of air conditioning), we've moved most of our socializing indoors. For the past two decades, though, one Palm Beach County city has been bringing residents back outdoors. This weekend, the 21st-annual Lake Worth Street Painting Festival is coming back around. On Saturday and Sunday, starting at 10 a.m., the free event will feature more than 600 artists who will be using the asphalt as canvas to transform the roads into a public art gallery. Made of chalk, the images will remain only until traffic and the next rain erase them. This is the world's largest festival of its kind; the event has received the 2014 Council's Choice "Muse Award for Cultural Excellence." The festival's main stage will have continuous live music. Food will be available at the Festival Food Court, and local downtown restaurants will be open for business. A free festival shuttle will be making loops from the Lake Worth Tri-Rail Station and Palm Beach State College from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.
