This week it's featuring a Certified Angus Beef Meatloaf topped with shiitake stroganoff served with parmesan potatoes. 4. 100+ Abandoned Dogs Fundraiser at Union
Who doesn't love animals and socializing on the weekend -- if you don't, you just suck at life. Here's your chance to support homeless and abused pets while hanging out with other like-minded animal-lovers. On Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m., Union Sushi is hosting a fundraiser for 100+ Abandoned Dogs. Sponsored by Tito's Vodka, the event will feature a guest appearance by former NFL player Sabatino Piscitelli and other soon-to-be announced celebrity guests. Chances are you're going to dine out over the weekend (we mean, you are currently reading a food blog), you might as well learn something in the process. From 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at Tarpon Bend, archaeologists from Florida Public Archaeology Network Southeast Region will be exploring that evolution of the past 10,000 years of food in South Florida, from Ice Age mammoths -- yes, it did get cold on this strip of land at one point in time - to grocery stores and burger stands. For $45 per person, guests will be treated to a specialty cocktail, appetizers, main course, and dessert all designed to fit the theme of the evening, paired with fascinating conversation. 2. South Florida Brew Bus Coastal Cruise Tour
The folks of South Florida Brew Bus have organized a Drink Like a Local Tour from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. For $50 per person, the tour will take local craft beer enthusiasts to Funky Buddha Brewery, Saltwater Brewery, and Due South Brewing for a fun daytime drinking excuse. Tickets include one pint per brewery, a private tour of each facility, roundtrip transportation, pretzels and peanuts, and samples of Brew Bus Brewing's line of craft beers throughout the day. 1. New Times Happy Hour at America's Backyard
The happiest hour of the week begins shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday evening.
