Cider, again?! Yes, this week I'm taking a crack at another cider (last week I brought you some Hard Cider from Cigar City Cider and Mead), this time the Berry Cider from a local West Palm Beach outfit called Accomplice Brewery and Ciderworks.

This new-to-the-scene cider maker is laboring day and night to start inundating South Florida with locally crafted ciders that don't taste like the usual commercial super sweet ciders that our palates are used to.

No, we're talking drier with more fresh fruit flavors.

If we're taking a look at categories and style guidelines, as we are want to do at times, we will find that this cider most likely falls under the C2B category, or 'Cider with Other Fruit'. One of the big guidelines for this style is that it must allow "the apple character [to] marry with the added fruit so that neither one dominates the other."

Accomplice's Berry Cider is described as their Golden Cider fermented with strawberries. It hits a nice low sessionable range of 4.1% ABV.

It pours a semi hazy deep orange with a hint of a reddish hue. Aromas are apple skin, fleshy berries, even hints of seagrape. Flavors of fresh apple mix with a rounder berry aspect that bring a lusciousness that's not overly sweet, but naturally so, in the same way that regular fruit is sweet. It's crisp and appropriately carbonated with a moderate mouthfeel.

Berry Cider is available at a select few retailers, such as World of Beer - Wellington, Clematis, and Coconut Creek, Castaways Bar & Grill, The Crafty Crust, The Brewhouse Gallery, Terra Fermata, and The Sybarite Pig where I ordered mine.

Accomplice Brewery & Ciderworks is located at 1027 N. Florida Mango Road, West Palm Beach. Visit accomplicebrewery.com
