This week we're taking a look over to the beach side in Hollywood, where a brewery is pumping out beers right on the waterfront, the Hollywood Brewing Company. Earlier this year, the brewery dropped the 'Organic' part of its previous name and decided to open up a full-scale production brewery near Sheridan Street, getting a new starfish inspired logo in the process.

They are still a European-centered brew house, with the pilsners and lagers reigning supreme at the beach side brewpub on the boardwalk, but are beginning to delve into some more seasonal and experimental brews. Here, we're going to be taking a look at one of the more interesting varieties available on the menu, the Mango IPA.

The beer pours a brilliant clear dark orange with a voluminous and frothy head. Aromas of citrus abound with a slight hint of mango goodness that sneak in under the radar. The taste is quite sweet and malty, with little bitterness at the beginning. The mango aspect is there but not overpowering; it holds as a distinct undercurrent to everything else that's going on. It moves towards a more pine-focused finish that holds on to the sweetness as it goes.

It's an IPA that's not going to be an impressive treat for hop heads, but will instead offer interest for those looking for tropical fruit flavors without mouth-coating syrupy sweetness. Mango IPA can be currently found on tap at the Hollywood Brewing Company brewpub at 290 N. Broadwalk in Hollywood. It still has a charming European village mural across the western wall, and boasts some of the best views of any brewery in South Florida: straight out onto the Atlantic Ocean.
