You can celebrate the start of spring -- the vernal equinox, if you're feeling fancy -- on Tuesday by spending the day tending your garden or doing some sort of get-close-to-Mother-Earth ritual. Or, you could head to an Outback Steakhouse for a free bloomin' onion as part of the restaurant's "Bloom into Spring" promotion.
Participating restaurants -- remember, that's the key phrase here, so call your closest South Florida location to ensure they are participating (and they should be) -- will offer a free bloomin' onion to diners who know the not-so-secret phrase. Just tell them you're there to "bloom into spring" and they'll know what you're talking about. The offer is only good if you purchase something else, like a meal, so don't head on in there and ask for the freebie without shelling out a bit of dough.
The offer can't be combined with any other specials or offers, but you can get it dine-in or for takeaway service. There's a limit of one per table. Luckily, there is no coupon necessary to take part in the offer so you won't have to be "that guy."
