Gary Rack Closes Boca Raton's Table 42; Will Reopen as Farmhouse Kitchen

Where one door closes, another opens. At least, that's the idea behind the opening of Gary Rack's latest concept, which will join the Gary Rack Restaurant Management Group's family of restaurants including Racks Downtown Eatery + Tavern in Boca Raton's Mizner Park, and Rack's Fish House + Oyster Bar in Delray Beach.

On Wednesday, October 1, Rack closed Boca Raton's five-year-old Table 42 Italian Kitchen + Wine Bar -- formerly Coal Mine Pizza -- and plans are already underway to reopen the space as the group's latest incarnation: Farmhouse Kitchen. The concept will focus on farm-fresh fare and supporting local purveyors, with a menu designed for clean eating served in a comfortable, homey atmosphere.

The Farmhouse menu will be executed by the group's culinary director, Matthew Danaher, whose mission is to redefine "fresh" food with seasonal, sustainable, locally-sourced ingredients and dishes based on a series of healthy lifestyle changes made by Rack himself.

"It's been a dream of mine to open a restaurant with a menu that captivates the better-­for-you foods, that leave you happily satisfied, while not guilty," said Rack. "Beyond serving good food, we have a mission to provide a lifestyle."

In addition to its health-forward focus, expect Farmhouse to have an eco-friendly approach, as well. The restaurant is proud to be using the in-house Vero water program, an eco-friendly water purification system that offers both sparkling and still water to patrons while utilizing reusable 1-liter glass bottles.

The restaurant, which is currently under construction and expected to open in mid-November, will also serve as an outlet for positive change, according to Rack, and will be involved with local and national charities, "building awareness of sustainability while respecting where we live."
