Rappy's, Burt Rapoport's highly anticipated take on the classic New York-style delicatessen, has announced a grand opening date. For now, here's a sneak peek at the eats they'll be dishing out, including lots of caviar.

The restaurant will open for lunch and dinner on Tuesday, December 6, in the new Park Place plaza off Military Trail, with an all-day breakfast menu and normal hours launching December 12. Starting December 10, a weekend brunch will be served from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday and will feature a build-your-own bloody mary bar and bottomless mimosas.

Rapoport, a third-generation restaurateur, says he called on his childhood growing up in an iconic New York Jewish restaurant — first owned by his grandfather and later his father — to create his own take on a "one-of-a-kind, delica-restaurant-tessen."

Named after his father, Ray "Rappy" Rapoport, Rappy’s is a deli-restaurant for the modern world and an homage to his family's business that operated for 50 years.

Rappy's soulful menu features over 75 dishes, all influenced by old-school New York-style delis. It also features a number of recipes donated by Rapoport’s family and friends, prepared using traditional cooking methods.

That includes everything from Katz’s salami and eggs to matzo brei or smoked whitefish. Menu highlights will also feature a wide variety of house-smoked meats, including pastrami prepared using traditional methods: first brined, then smoked over a proprietary blend of hardwood and steamed to juicy perfection.

More modern selections will include unique appetizers like pastrami spring rolls or veggie “chopped liver," while those looking for lighter, more healthful fare can opt for the organic quinoa salad or a signature Rapoport restaurant classic chopped salad.

There are also a few things you might not expect to find from a Jewish-deli-style restaurant, like caviar — five different types to be exact, priced by the ounce from domestic paddlefish at $34 to Kaluga fusion black caviar at $99. If that's too pricey for a casual lunch, there's always Rappy’s signature caviar pie (boiled eggs and whitefish caviar mixed with mayonnaise, onions, cream cheese, and sour cream).
