These days, it seems like everyone is getting into healthy eating -- and with America's track record on health, it's definitely a good thing.

From larger vegetarian selections at local bars to wellness-focused eateries, South Floridians (and their beach bodies) are all about nutrient density.

North Fort Lauderdale is about to get healthier: Green Bar & Kitchen is opening a second express location on Galt Ocean Mile.

In late fall, Green Bar Express will begin offering quicker (possibly less expensive) plant-based fare in a hurry.

"We're doing grab-and-go," says Green Bar co-owner Charles Grippo. "It's healthy fare on-the-go for the person who is healthy and needs to get something quickly."

The goal, says Grippo and partner in life and business Elena Pezzo, is to serve guests in under five minutes.

The location will offer large fridges filled with all the water, coconut water, probiotics, and juices that are sold at the original Green Bar; however, Grippo and Pezzo plan to offer new, exclusively designed cold-pressed juices and nut mylks. Expect about seven juice combinations and three mylks.

While the menu will be an abbreviated version of what is offered at the current location, look for some of the popular favorites and more customizable options. The eatery will feature build-your-own plates (we've been told the basic options will be very budget-friendly) as well as a selection of salads, wraps, and bowls, with the same sauces and ingredients along with new additions.

"Expect to see new and exciting things that Fort Lauderdale hasn't seen yet," says Pezzo. "We're pushing the ball a little higher."

In addition, night-time cooking classes as well as catering and meal plans will be offered out of the new location.

As for the ambiance, the vibe will be fresh and aesthetically pleasing, with an organic California feel. Although it's much smaller than the 17th St. location, Green Bar Express will house a community table that seats about eight people as well as some rail seating.

"My main goal is getting healthy foods to the masses at affordable prices," says Pezzo. "Now that we've been growing, we've been able to lower our price points."

Stay tuned for details.

Green Bar Express will be located at 3429 Galt Ocean Mile in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.
