If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind Saturday afternoon dining experience that won't break the wallet, you can’t do much better than Kuro's Saturday lunch special at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.

The new-style Japanese restaurant recently added Saturday lunch (noon to 3 p.m.), which means more opportunities for guests to experience the playful, creative offerings of Kuro's inventive kitchen while floor-to-ceiling windows provide a pleasant view of the pool and patrons.

Guests can escape from the Florida heat while sipping some truly creative cocktails, which include ingredients such as grapefruit, lemongrass, and even squid ink; sampling bites of appetizers you won't find anywhere else, like Wagyu tacos or beef Nagima; and scarfing down main dishes, including shrimp tempura, chicken or beef with rice, and noodle dishes.

Saturday afternoons also give you a break on price because you’re not going to eat until you’re stuffed. The cocktails are $14; appetizers, salads, and desserts are $10 to $15; and many main courses run under $20. (Average nighttime checks are about $90 per person.) This is a different experience, though one with the same attention to detail, from juices squeezed daily on the property to a caring, attentive staff of servers, well-trained on the intricate details of each dish.

While Council Oak Steak & Seafood is the casino’s alpha steakhouse, Kuro, which opened March 2015 at a cost of $12 million, adds glitz and sparkle to the property. Executive Chef Alex Becker, recently named New Times' “Best Chef” of 2016 and formerly of Nobu and SBE's Katsuya, came onto the property months in advance and has established a venue worth being visited South Florida foodies — whether or not they ever place a coin in a slot machine.

Kuro is located at 1 Seminole Way. Visit seminolehardrockhollywood.com. For reservations go to OpenTable.com, call 954-327-7625, or email [email protected]
