In Honor of 420, Our Favorite Munchies

Today, 420, the unofficial cannabis holiday that results in a mean case of the munchies, is upon us. A friend mentioned a munchies salve for which Entenmann's chocolate-covered doughnuts meet a bag of crushed Doritos, a concoction that's scooped out by the handful.

Now, we're not advocating that particular do-it-yourself snack, having not taste-tested it ourselves. But we do have a couple of recommendations to honor the day. Sure it's Las Olas Wine and Food Festival tomorrow, but who wouldn't want to save room for more wanton food cravings?

5) Walking Taco from Tropical Taco
There is nothing elegant about this taco in a bag, a concoction of

Fritos, salsa, ground beef, lettuce, cheese, onions, cilantro, and sour

cream we tried earlier this winter. It's a

redneck guilty pleasure and one that requires a sense of humor or

extreme hunger to appreciate. Like pizza by the slice or a trip to

the Floridian late at night, it's tasty fuel for when you're drunk or, in this case, stoned.

4) The Who 'Dat from Shuck-N-Dive

This colossal burger is a pound of blackened Angus topped with fried green tomatoes, fried pickles, grilled onions, bacon, jalapeño, horseradish, voodoo sauce, and extra cheese. It's garnished with a moat of tater tots and presented with a giant knife through the heart.

3) The Chocolate Pretzel Peanut Butter Ice Cream Shake from Uncle Louie G

This dessert is the closest concoction to the Dorito-Entenmann's pairing, this doozy of a milk shake made with chocolate-covered pretzels and peanut-butter ice cream. If Doritos and ice cream is more your bag, bring your own for mixing in. "We'll add in anything you bring," said a manager.

2) Pizza Fritta from Scuola Vecchia
Go for the fried pizza, for which dough is rounded out and flattened, then dropped in a deep frier for 20 seconds. After which, a pizzaiolo adds sauce and mozzarella, He finishes the pie in the wood-burning oven, then garnishes with basil. "It's a traditional Naples recipe," claims an employee. 1) The Colombian Dog from Los Perros

What's on a Colombian hot dog from Los Perros? A blanket of cheese,

chopped pineapple, crushed potato chips, pink sauce, bacon, and

ketchup. Fatty, salty, sweet, and savory dogs cure every craving.
