The winner of the last Monday's 2011 Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest was a close and unofficial draw between reigning champion Joey Chestnut and Japanese eating sensation Takeru Kobayashi.

Kobayashi refused to compete in the 2010 hot dog eating contest thanks to a contractual problem with Major League Eating. This year he decided to compete unofficially from a rooftop bar in Manhattan wth the contest broadcast on a big screen as the backdrop.

While Chestnut officially won the contest (for the fourth time since 2007), by eating a gut-wrenching 61 hot dogs in 10 minutes, Kobayashi thought he'd beaten Chestnut's world record by consuming 69 frankfurters in the same amount of time.

Well the "comely man" who was officially counting the meat in Kobayashi's mouth was wrong. The Japanese phenom only ate a 65 foot-longs.

According to Huffington Post the video of Kobayashi below tracks his progress a bit more scientifically.
