When deciding on which restaurant to eat at, you probably peruse the menu, consider the cocktails, and the decor. But does the bathroom come into play when making plans for a night out? Maybe it should.
According to Cintas Corporation, the bathrooms play a pivotal part in the success of a restaurant. Which is why it holds an annual search for America's "top toilet", where a team of survey editors search the country for the most creative and clean restrooms.
This year, ten finalists have been chosen from the vast field of hotel, restaurant, and airport bathrooms across this great land and one of them is in our own backyard.

Mai-Kai, home of authentic tiki drinks and Polynesian fire dancers, has made the cut, along with nine other unique bathrooms in diverse locations like Longwood Garden in Pennsylvania (where the toilets are part of a giant "green" wall) ; American Girl Place in Chicago (complete with doll resting area); and the Fabulous Fox Theater, a classic 1929 movie palace in St. Louis.
According to Cintas, Mai-Kai's bathroom was chosen for its opulence. "From the floor to the ceiling, columns to the mirrors, the restroom has a golden aura that whisks you away with the feel of a royal washroom." The Mai-Kai also got high marks for their bathroom attendants in both the ladies and men's rooms. " Luxury at its finest!"
Pia Dahlquist, Mai-Kai's director of sales and marketing agrees with Cintas' assessment.
"People often say 'This is the most beautiful restroom I have ever seen' and that they visit Mai-Kai because of our memorable washing areas."
The public is asked to vote on the best bathroom at bestrestroom.com by October 31. The site, of course, has pictures of all these fabulous bathrooms.
The winning facility will receive a $2,500 credit to spend on Cintas services and supplies for their bathroom, with the top three vote-getting facilities receiving a complimentary deep clean of their restroom (presumably to get them ready for all the photo ops about to happen in there).
