Restaurateur Dennis Max is at it again. The Max Group recently announced the name and concept for its latest restaurant following the recent purchase of the former Ceviche restaurant space -- and before that Falcon House -- in downtown Delray Beach.

The new restaurant is being referred to as "SoHo" -- short for Max's Social House -- and will join the Max family of restaurants that includes Max's Grille in Boca Raton and Max's Harvest in Delray Beach's Pineapple Grove.

According to Max -- who capitalized on bringing California-style fare to South Florida beginning in the early 1980s with his first restaurants, Café Max, Max's Place, and Maxaluna -- the next revolution in the restaurant industry is now upon us. And Max's Social House is bringing it to Delray Beach.

"Right now is the perfect storm for what we're doing. Everyone's attitudes are changing, and we're on the cusp of another big evolution in how we dine out," says Max. "Restaurants are becoming the new churches -- they're where people from all over the community come to gather and socialize. It's where people go to unwind and relax from their crazy life."

They also want good, clean food that's local, organic, and affordable, added Max, in a setting that is both casual and welcoming. So Max created SoHo.

Slated to open in late October, Max's Social House will offer nightly dinner service with a focus on fresh local produce and seafood, seasonal craft beer, classic cocktails, and wines from throughout the world. To execute the menu -- small plates for sharing that will be a familiar extension of the type of food prepared at Max's Harvest and Max's Grille -- the team has hired Scott Pierce, a tenured Max Group chef, to lead the kitchen. Delray Beach native John Brewer will serve as the restaurant's general manager.

The 2,000-square-foot restaurant's unique location a few blocks north of the city's downtown restaurant row is what will help to execute the social house aspect. Housed in a historic cottage that features a roomy interior and spacious exterior brick garden patio, it's a hidden gem for those looking to get away from the chaos of Atlantic Avenue. The interior is being renovated by Manhas Design and will showcase the home's original brick fireplace, located behind the inside bar.

Expect SoHo to be a new destination for late-night and in-the-biz socializing, adds Max.

"Social House will be the ideal gathering place to meet friends for dinner or simply cocktails and snacks," says Max. "We want people to have fun. That's what 'social house' means. It's part of our mission."

The Max Group is hiring for positions at both Max's Harvest and Max's Social House. Apply in person at Max's Social House, located at 116 NE Sixth Ave. in Delray Beach, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visit the Facebook page, or call 561-501-4332.
