Executive chef Carlo Macaluso has left the relatively new Cita's Italian Chop House in Coconut Grove. Maybe he didn't have the chops.

Mark Militello is the new executive chef at 1 Blue in the Regent

Bal Harbour. He has taken over for Gerdy Rodriguez, who after his

blink-of-the-eye stint at the Regent is now chef de cuisine of Abokado in Mary Brickell Village. Hiro Asano is Abokado's new executive chef.

South Beach shutdowns include Big Al's Bagels on 5th Street; Novecento's Alton Road location (the Brickell Novecento still humming along); and Baire's Grill, the Argentine steakhouse on Washington Avenue (coming in its' place: I Corsini).

Rumor has it that a major Miami chef will soon be moving on from the helm of a major Miami restaurant. Details to come.
