Competitive eating is always a messy sport in one way or another. Whether it's mustard and crumbs from hot dogs, gooey pie, greasy hamburgers, or vomit after the fact; stuffing ones face with pounds upon pounds of food is certainly not going to be pretty.
As part of the PGA National Resort & Spa's Ice Cream Festival Weekend, hotel guests were invited to attend "The Face Freeze Frenzy Ice Creaming Eating Contest" with celebrity participants.
After consuming as much ice cream as is humanly attainable, Michael Lohan brought home the bacon -- er, um, frozen dessert.

Participants were given five minutes to eat as much of the four pound bowl of sugary frozen lactose as possible without use of their hands. As you would expect, it was a rather sloppy -- and melted -- affair.
Contestants included a number of well-known personalities in the community, such as Doug MacLain of Palm Beach County Convention & Visitors Bureau; Andy Preston from Gater 98.7 FM; Suzanne Boyd, anchor for CBS 12; Rachel Leigh of Fox 29 WFLX TV; Mayor Bert Premuroso, City of Palm Beach Gardens; Monty Foster, Morning Show Host, WOLL-FM; and, of course, Michael Lohan.
To take home the win, Lohan ate a total of 2.9 pounds of ice cream. Foster came in second place with 2.65 pounds consumed, followed by Leigh who eat a total of 2.61 pounds. You would imagine they probably had the ice cream version of the meat sweats after that.
"I'm just happy I did it for the charity," said Lohan. "I never thought I would win; I usually take a lick or two and am done. When I heard this was a charitable event I was in."
The weekend long Ice Cream Fest also included an ice cream tasting, 1950's sock hop, golf cart drive-in movie, and a push to beat the current Guinness Book of World Records achievement for longest ice cream sundae in the world of 1,101 feet on Sunday afternoon. Coming in at 1,200 feet, the PGA National Resort and Spa conquered the existing record by a long shot.
A portion of the proceeds benefitted Alliance for Kids, a non-profit organization which provides funds for the Child Life Department at the Palm Beach Children's Hospital.
