Good news South Florida -- Broward County is about to get a whole lot sweeter this weekend.

Misha's Cupcakes, owned and operated by Miamian Misha Kuryla Gomez, launched its first store north of the Miami-Dade County line back in May -- and this weekend will be hosting a party to announce the launch of a new product.

According to Gomez, there will be lots of goodies in store for those customers who join her in celebration Saturday.

"We plan to have all of our specialty flavors out that day, and for the party, we will be giving them away for free. There will also be some bubbly to wash them down."

Coinciding with the rapid growth of Misha's Cupcakes is the growth of the menu itself. Gomez is launching a "cake by the jar" item that you can actually have shipped directly to your doorstep. Customers can customize these jars of goodness to their liking, filling them with whatever flavors or goodies they so desire.

"Our cake in the jars are eight ounces of our delicious cake, frosting, and toppings. They can be as crazy as a customer wants or as simple as our vanilla with vanilla bean frosting. They are fun because we can make them colorful, elegant, cute, and always decadent. We are excited that it is our first shippable item, and so far we have already shipped out from New York all the way to California," Gomez says.

In 2008, Gomez moved her Miami home-based operation into her first store. This first Broward location now marks her fifth storefront in South Florida (Coral Gables, Miami Lakes, Aventura, London Square, and now Pembroke Pines), with two more Broward stores in the works. Gomez credits her rapid success in a notoriously tough industry to her family, faith, friends, and, most of all, hard work.

"I feel I really have to thank God. I never thought my business would grow so quickly," Gomez says. "Luckily, I love working and love my employees. They really have helped spread our cupcake love around South Florida."

The event scheduled to take place this Friday, January 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. is free and open to the public. Joining Gomez will be the mayor of Miramar and Pembroke Pines, Frank Ortis, at 5:30 p.m. to help welcome the insanely popular establishment to Broward.

The first of three planned Broward spots, the new Pines Misha's Cupcakes location will be located at the Shops at Pembroke Gardens at 14539 SW Fifth St. in Pembroke Pines.
