Mizner Plaza Pizzeria has opened in the eastern-most space of the plaza for which it is named. The slot is no stranger to pizzerias and has seen many (Casino's Pizza, Pizza Hut, and most recently, Jonathan's Corner) come and go over the years.
Mizner Plaza Pizzeria opened earlier this month serving "New York style" pizza by the pie and by the slice. While there is no shortage of places in southern Palm Beach County trumpeting their NYC pies, fewer places offer pizza by the slice. New York pizza enthusiasts can decide if the pie lives up to its stylistic references.
"I'm having the construction worker's lunch," my petite friend quipped when her $8.95 lunch special (pictured above) was set before her at the outdoor table where we took our meal. Table service is limited -- order at the counter for fastest service -- but someone did bring us our order when it was up. My tomato and artichoke slice ($3.50) was a more manageable lunch portion, particularly because of an extra-thin crust.
Open for lunch and dinner daily, Mizner Plaza Pizzeria serves 20-inch pizzas like the traditional pepperoni ($18.50) and a white pizza with fresh spinach ($20) to specialty pies like a lasagna pizza ($21.95) and a rigatoni pizza ($21.95). Pizza by the slice is $3 to $4.
Pasta and calzones also are on the menu with entrees priced $7.95 to $11.95. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. daily with lunch specials offered from until 4 p.m. The store is located at 134 NE 2nd Street in Boca Raton. Call 561-826-7123.
