• July 30 is National Cheesecake Day; can you guess which restaurant is
celebrating? (Hint: The name starts with "Cheesecake" and ends in
"Factory.") Anyway, on July 30 that place will be offering "any slice, half price,"
a promotion that's fairly self-explanatory. Comers can try the chain's
new Reese's Peanut Butter Chocolate Cheesecake, and a quarter from the
sale of each piece will be donated to Feeding America. (Hopefully they're not just feeding America cheesecake -- that tub needs to go on a diet.)
• First Larry King, now Allen Susser. The award-winning chef will join an advisory board for Brooklyn Water Bagel Co., that Delray Beach bagel joint where the water is Brooklynized™ via a complex process of constant ground contamination, rats the size of alligators, and industrial runoff. Just kidding. It's all scientific and stuff. I think.
