"Get the door, it's the liquor store."
Broward County residents could be hearing that phrase a lot more thanks to a new app that allows for home delivery of beer, wine, and liquor.
It's all thanks to Drizly, a Boston-based technology company. Just as Uber offers on-demand transportation, the Drizly app allows you to order alcohol with the touch of a button — and promises to be at your doorstep in less than 60 minutes.
Since launching in 2015, Drizly can be found in 21 major U.S. cities. The company arrived in Florida last November servicing Tampa, followed by St. Pete in February.
This week, Drizly announced it will be expanding its on-demand alcohol delivery services to South Florida in both Fort Lauderdale and Coral Springs starting Thursday, June 9, in partnership with ABC Fine Wine & Spirits.
By downloading the free Drizly mobile app on iOS and Android devices or by visiting Drizly.com, customers within the South Florida service area will be able to receive deliveries directly from one of two ABC store partners in Broward County.Drizly, the mobile-driven alcohol delivery service, will become available to South Florida residents in Fort Lauderdale and Coral Springs starting Thursday, June 9.

Once downloaded, app users can scan virtual shelves populated with the same selection of beer, wine, and spirits available at ABC, each sold for the same price you'd find in the store.

"Given the success, we're looking forward to expanding our partnership with ABC into South Florida, and hope we can bring this unique experience to more people."
If you're clutching your pearls and are about to mutter, "Think of the children," worry not. Delivery drivers are able to scan licenses on-the-go, and the Drizly app's proprietary identification software ensures employees of the company's local retail partner are able to make safe and compliant deliveries to users 21 or older.
