Somewhere in the history of politics, a candidate stopped for a bite to eat and was spotted by his adoring public... That was probably the watershed moment that began the tradition of restaurant stops. After all, nothing says "I'm one of the people" like a politician with ketchup on his tie!
In that grand tradition, Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich is making a stop at Wings Plus on Sample Road in Coral Springs.
Gingrich is expected to arrive at 11:30 a.m., and the fast-casual
restaurant is ready! There's a stage set up for Newt to make a speech
in the front of the store, and local politicians are expected to join him
in the rally/wingfest. Newt is scheduled at the restaurant until 12:30
p.m.
The public is invited, and the restaurant is open for lunch
during the rally. Just park your car in the rear (we don't want to mess
up the photo op). If you're not a fan of the man, you're invited too! The Occupy Fort Lauderdale Facebook
page has posted an invite for its supporters to voice their opinions
at the rally as well. Hey -- the one thing that Democrats and
Republicans have in common is their love of chicken wings, right?
Newt isn't the only presidential hopeful to visit Wings Plus. Perez Hilton posted a picture of Rick Santorum frying up a batch of wings on his website.
