NFL 2015: Five South Florida Breweries Perfect for Football Season

Football season is right around the corner, and your favorite team is currently doing everything it can to ensure it is adequately prepared for game days this fall; shouldn't you be doing the same?

Yes. The answer is yes.

Time is running out, and you should definitely be mapping out where you want to be when your team kicks off.

Breweries around Broward and Palm Beach counties are the new place to watch a game this year; craft beer is in, and sweaty buckets of macrobrews are out. Lucky for you, New Times reached out to some of the areas most popular breweries to find out what they have in store for customers this season.

You might be stuck with your perennial loser football team forever, but you can be a bandwagon free-agent brewery hopper every week.

Funky Buddha Brewery

Highlight: The Funky Buddha Craft Food Counter & Kitchen will be open in time for football season.

In addition to some of the best beer you can buy in South Florida, Funky Buddha will now serve gourmet food. Funky Buddha will also have multiple new private party rooms and a gaming room that includes cornhole. It plans on having the NFL Ticket, and as always, it pumps the sound up high when the local teams are playing. 

Funky Buddha is known for its fantastic outdoor events that normally take place on the weekend, so there are sure to be some special things in store for football fans this year. 

Copperpoint Brewing Co.

Highlight: FSU fan? This is the brewery where you'll find the most Seminoles fans on Saturdays.

If you're a ’Noles fan who loves brunch, this is the place for you on weekends. Copperpoint brunch this week included a menu item that had mojo pork on some awesome-sounding new invention called a "beer biscuit"; so yeah, that's what's up. Copperpoint is definitely carrying the NFL Ticket this season, and as always, it will be the place to see your ’Noles kick the Gators' and Canes' asses. 

Saltwater Brewery

Highlight: The Saltwater Food Truck Calendar, an upscale tasting craft-beer bar. 

Want to get as close as you can to the game experience without coughing up all that parking money? Saltwater's Screamin’ Reels IPA will be available at Sun Life Stadium during Miami Dolphins games at the team's new craft beer garden, but you can get it straight from the brewery while the Fins play on the TVs. Saltwater is more of a laid-back atmosphere, perfect for the fan who's looking to stay away from the loud crowd. 

Saltwater has no set plans for football season as of yet, but it will continue to offer its popular craft beers at an affordable price — plus the special food truck/beer pairings that satisfy patrons every week. Check the brewery's website for rotating draft schedules. 

Bangin' Banjo Brewing Co.

Highlight: Florida Gators supporters are extra welcome here. 

Gators fans, this is your home. Bangin Banjo tells the New Times it will release its batch of Black IPA during the Florida Gators first game on Saturday, September 5. What the brewery lacks in number of television sets it more than makes up for in amazing beer and comfortable atmosphere. All the local games are shown in the brewery, plus all the Thursday- and Monday-night games as well.

Due South Brewing Co.

Highlight: Huge taproom, amazing beer. 

Due South is to Palm Beach what Funky Buddha is to Broward: regional favorites, both pumping out quality beer that would make the biggest beer snob content. Due South has one of the largest drinking areas at any brewery and multiple televisions to show any game you're looking for. Due South constantly has food trucks sitting right outside, and the prices of its beer can't be beat — you can literally taste most beers for just two bucks. 

Due South is as good as it gets in Palm Beach County, and its taproom is rivaled only by Funky Buddha in its size — it's the perfect place to take in the game with a cold brew.
