When it comes to pizza, that's most certainly true; we can never get enough cheese, dough, and sauce in one perfectly crisp bite.

Coral Springs residents should be getting excited right about now. Nick's New Haven Pizzeria is opening its doors next week.

Specializing in a unique style of thin-crust apizza (pronounced ah-BEETZ, in a heavy Northeastern accent) developed in New Haven, Connecticut, the pizzeria will be the only eatery in the area offering the pies.

Cook its pizzas in a 750-degree hand-built coal oven, the restaurant is best-known for its specialty 18-inch white clam pie.

In addition to the New England favorite, its regional specialties include Hummel hot dogs, Connecticut's Foxon Park sodas, and a wide range of pastas, entrées, coal-fired grinders, and fresh salads.

Originally located in Lake Worth, owners Nick Laudano and Anthony Giovanniello moved the New Haven-style pizzeria to a brand-spanking-new, fancy, 4,600-square-foot storefront in Boca Raton back in 2011.

It's lauded as one of the best pizzerias in South Florida.

"We are very grateful for the success we've had in Boca Raton and are excited about the opportunity to bring our concept to Coral Springs," said Giovanniello. "Nick's is unlike anything in the area and will be a great addition to the family-oriented community."

The shop officially opens on Monday, June 16, but the grand-opening party and ribbon-cutting will take place Thursday, July 17, at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, July 19, from 1 to 3 p.m., it's hosting a Family Fun day with free pizza, a balloon artist, a photo booth, a DJ, and more.

It will be open Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to midnight, and Sundays from noon to 10 p.m.
