Once again, S. Pellegrino has ranked the 100 Best Restaurants in the World, and nine of the top 50, including Momofuko Ssam Bar, which made the list for the first time this year, are in the United States. But we South Floridians are going to have to travel (and pay!) if we want to sample the best. In New York, the restaurants are: Thomas Keller's Per Se (which bumped down Keller's other restaurant, the French Laundry, to 12th place), Le Bernardin, Jean Georges, Masa, Momofuko Ssam Bar, and Daniel. In California: the French Laundry in Yountville. In Chicago: Alinea (chef Grant Achatz is a protege of Keller's).

El Bulli, Fernand Adria's restaurant in Spain, was number one. Just look at Spain go, with four of the top eight! And Gordon Ramsey's joints were nowhere to be found on this year's list. As Ramsey (seen reacting to the news, above) would presumably comment: Boo Fucking Hoo. The guy has more than 20 restaurants around the world now, including Cielo in Boca Raton (and hey, that's driving distance!)

Anybody eaten at any of these joints? Leave a comment and let us know how it went.
