Wine and beer pairings are all the rage these days, but let's face it: In today's economy, $150 "Food and Drink" events aren't for everyone.
That's why the Poorhouse Bar in Fort Lauderdale is introducing its new "Sliders and Spirits" event, a $20 buy-in for those with a more conservative budget.
On Wednesday, July 20, the Poorhouse will launch the first of its fairly priced food-and-drink pairings to be held each month. Admission includes three sliders, one dessert slider, and one Jack Daniels cocktail.
The event will serve to promote the restaurant's new slider menu and will showcase the restaurant's new chef, Shashank Agtey, who has cooked for the likes of former First Lady Barbara Bush and former Vice President Dan Quayle. During the event, Agtey will do a live demonstration making his epic lamb sliders and will sell signed copies his cookbook, Sidewalk Chef ($15).
Because this is the Poorhouse, the event will also feature live music as well as artwork by local art and fashion photographer Sean Murdock. Murdock will display work from his recent series that showed in L.A. alongside famed Obama and Obey Giant artist Shepard Fairey. This will be one of Murdock's last events before he moves to the West Coast. All of his work will be available for purchase.
So come hungry and leave happy (and with plenty of spare change).
