• Make it fast, make it casual, make it cheap and you can make it anywhere. Or so it appears if you're Gyroville, Lambros Kokkinelis's growing chainlet of easy-on-the-wallet Greek eateries. Having recently added a second location in Pembroke Pines, Kokkinelis is planning siblings in Boca Raton later this spring and on 17th Street in Fort Lauderdale in the fall. DIY pitas, Mythology-themed Greek sammies and a quintet of platters will all be on the menu.
• Climbing back a little further from the Scott Rothstein debacle is Tony Bova, who watched his fledgling restaurant empire vanish with the unmasking of his then-partner and convicted Ponzi schemer. After opening Vivo Partenza in the old Bova Ristorante location last year, Bova is set to recreate his once-popular Mario's Italian eatery in the old McCormick & Schmick's seafood restaurant space in Boca's University Commons mall. Look for a spring-summer debut.
• Knock back a few shots and check out the upscale Mexican grub at the Cantina Laredos in Hallandale Beach and Palm Beach Gardens next week, when on successive days the restaurants will offer a four-course dinner paired with Milagro tequilas. Cocktails start flowing at 7 p.m. with dinner served at 7:30 on Wednesday, June 8, in Hallandale and Thursday, June 9, at PBG. Call the restaurants for rezzies and be prepared to pony up $49.99.
