Another staple of the New Orleans market is now making its way to South Florida. Smoothie King, which has existed in the Crescent City for at least four decades, is opening its newest location in Oakland Park today.
It was only last week that NOLA Brewing Co., another New Orleans-based company, announced that it will be entering the South Florida market. Smoothie King was built on making and serving gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan fruit smoothies and the option to add powdered boosters such as protein powder. The new location will be marked by a grand opening celebration until noon today (Wednesday, October 29) and a free smoothie giveaway while supplies last.

Under its accelerated expansion plan, Smoothie King plans to open more than 1,000 stores across the United States over the next three years.
The Metairie, Louisiana-based company operates more than 700 locations, including smoothie bars in the Southeast, mid-Atlantic, and Northeast.
International locations include Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia, with 50 new stores planned in Korea and ten in Singapore in 2013.
The Oakland Park launch is the first in a series of eight new stores coming to South Florida. A second location will open in Hialeah in the coming weeks.
Smoothie King is also rolling out a new store design, with comfortable seating areas and a red-and-white color scheme with a modern look.
The new store is located at the Northridge Shopping Center, at 755 E. Commercial Blvd. in Oakland Park.
