Time to rejoice, beer fans, for the beginning of the year harks the beginning of our coveted Third Annual South Florida Beer Week - returning from January 18 through January 25th.

"Working with local breweries and retailers, South Florida Beer Week will bring Floridians a wide variety of events all focused on spreading the good word about Florida's blossoming beer scene, introducing beer lovers to local craft beer and telling the stories of Florida's Craft Brewers," declares Ian Salzberg in a press release. "Craft Beer fanatics will also be rewarded with a long list of exciting beer events and special product offerings from Jupiter all the way down to the Keys."

Kicking off the annual shindig is an epic quest via the South Florida Brew Bus to some of the top breweries in mid Broward and Palm Beach counties: Due South Brewing, Brewzzi Brewpub Boca Raton, and Funky Buddha Brewing.

What's included in this opening day event? One pint of beer at each brewery, a private tour at each brewery, light appetizers at Brewzzi and round trip transportation on the Brew Bus plus samples of Brew Bus Brewing's line of craft beers during the entire trip. $60 per person will get you a seat and all of the above.

For the more athletic of beer lovers, join Funky Buddha Brewery and Cigar City Brewing as they celebrate two of our collective passions: craft beer and disc golf! The South Florida Beer Week Disc Golf Classic 2014 will take place at Easterlin Park on Sunday, January 19th from 11am to 3pm. This entry-level tournament will feature a round of doubles disc golf with craft beer for all, prizes, a commemorative disc from Innova Disc Golf, and an awards ceremony held afterwards at Funky Buddha Brewery. Tickets are $20 and space is limited, so sign up soon than later.

Events like beer dinners, tap takeovers, pub crawls, educational classes, samplings, pints nights, and special tappings are all part of the week-long experience.

To tease a few of these events, on Wednesday January 22nd at the Mack House, expect a 4X4 SFBW special beer release from the on-site Mack House Nanobrew team and Boynton Beach power-brewers Due South. Prepare to sample some new creations from the Mack, like the BPB Grapefruit Belgian, Chocolate Pecan Brown, and Whiskey Oaked Downpour IPA. Due South will bring in their scotch ale, One Night In Ybor, Ginger Snap Imperial Brown and more.

Thursday, January 23rd at 7pm will see Cigar City Brewing take over the taps at the Tipsy Boar in Hollywood, with the Tampa-based brewery slinging a soon-to-be revealed selection of pints from behind the bar.

The week culminates with one of the most renowned beer festivals in Florida, The Jupiter Craft Brewers Festival and Field of Beers. This super-popular event draws thousands of beer drinkers to Roger Dean Stadium, to sample over 100 different beers in one place.
