Tap 42 has quietly debuted for lunch with an edited menu. Kudos for the burgers, in particular the "breakfast-lunch-dinner" with a fried egg, green tomato, and Swiss on brioche. Chef Chris Palmer has added a few regional plates, such as Wisconsin bratwurst, Pittsburgh kielbasa, and a bourbon barbecue sandwich.

Also: Get your swerve on early at happy hour here, with two for one domestic beers, wine, and well drinks from 4 to 7 p.m. Not a bad idea since beer prices aren't listed on the menu, so a night of a few brews ends up more expensive than intended.

On January 2, also opening for lunch will be Kapow! Noodle Bar, the Asian gastropub from Rodney Mayo, Scott Frielich, and Vaughan Lazar, with cooking from Roy Villacrusis.  More on Clean Plate Charlie as the date nears.
