Taste Gastropub, star chef Allen Susser's upscale-casual eatery in Delray Beach, has closed, at least temporarily, according to the message on the restaurant's phone line.

Rumors of the closure have been swirling for several days, but Charlie has so far been unable to contact Susser for confirmation, though apparently there's some question as to the extent of his current involvement. A call to the restaurant last week got a message indicating it was still open for business. But today the message said it will be "closed for renovation for the next few weeks."

In the restaurant biz, that means either it will be closed for renovation for the next few weeks or "Stick a fork in us, we're done." We'll just have to wait and see.
