UPDATE: Tickets go on sale at 8 p.m. tonight. Exclusivity breeds excitement, particularly in gourmand circles. That explains the historic trend for fast sell-outs for Traveling Plate Supper Club events. Registration for the first Traveling Plate event of 2013 opens at 8 tonight (Thursday), so if you're hoping to snag a seat at the table, be ready to act.

Tickets are in limited supply, and only 30 guests will be able to join the meal planned for 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, at the Dauer Museum of Classic Cars in Sunrise. The "underground" dining event is hosted by and benefits the ARC Broward Culinary Institute, by way of funding scholarships for students in need of financial assistance.

The Traveling Plate formula typically calls for an unusual locale -- past venues include a farm, a museum, and an art gallery -- and a guest chef. This month's culinary visitor is chef Shermika Lyons, otherwise known as chef Mika. Lyons is a Florida native and graduate of the International Culinary School at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.

According to her Lyons' bio, she "enjoys preparing all types of cuisine from Floribbean to European." The details of what Lyons will prepare will be kept under wraps until the event itself, but the setting -- a classic car museum -- will influence the theme of the evening.

"Our menu is going to be a surprise, which will be announced the night of the event," said Natalie Horowitz, director of marketing and communications for ARC Broward.

The cost for a seat is $75 per person. This includes a cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeuvres, an organic vodka drink, and a multi-course dinner with wine served throughout. Register for the Traveling Plate dinner online. (Note: The link won't go live until 8 p.m.)
