• Don't forget: The Jupiter Craft Brewer's Festival takes place this weekend at Roger Dean Stadium. The fest starts Saturday at 1 p.m., and although tickets are sold out online there will be 1600 available at the gate (read: get there early if you don't have yours). There are still tickets available for tonight's Field of Beers, also at Roger Dean at 6 p.m., which will feature top chefs pairing creative food with local beer. Read more about it here.
• SoLita -- that stands for "South of Little Italy" -- has opened on Las Olas in the old Mark's spot (1032 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, 954-357-2606). It's the product of two former Cafe Martorano staff, manager Alan Myers and chef Anthony Risoli. Expect nostalgic Italian fare and specialty cocktails. A grand opening is slated for February 10.
• Downtown at the Gardens in Palm Beach Gardens (11701 Lake Victoria
Gardens Ave., Palm Beach Gardens) is getting a new restaurant after a
bunch closed last year. Cabo Flats is a Mexican eatery that promises
"interactive entertainment" until 2 a.m. daily and entrees priced below
$20. There will be typical Tex-Mex dishes like tacos, enchiladas, and
burritos, plus four types of house-made salsa and two types of
guacamole. It opens the first week of February.
• Gratify American Gastropub is
set to open in the spot that once housed Spoto's Oyster Bar in West
Palm Beach (125 Datura St., West Palm Beach). The restaurant and bar
will stay open until 3 a.m., offering reasonably-priced, upscale pub
fare made with local ingredients. What sounds the most interesting
about the place is "adult milkshakes," essentially liquor-enhanced ice
cream drinks. It also opens in early February.
• Satoro in Hollywood has just expanded its hours to include lunch.You can now sample that delicious cheesecake
seven days a week from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch items include a
fontina burger, local snapper sandwich, and oxtail Manchego soup.
