Trader Joe's
has finally announced details on its upcoming Davie store.

The Monrovia, California-based grocer that offers a well-priced shopping experience in an adventurer's club setting, will open its 16th Florida location at the Tower Shops at 2296 S. University Drive on Friday, September 25. Trader Joe's is part of an expansion of the Davie shopping center, which is adding 50,000 square feet of shopping space.

When it opens, the 9,300-square-foot store will carry an extensive array of everything from beer and Two Buck Chuck to pet food and fresh produce. Although the store is famous for having a rotating selection of items, at any given time, expect to find around 3,000 of Trader Joe's private-label items with kitschy names like Trader Ming's fried rice, Trader Jose's salsa, and Trader Giotto's pasta sauce. The store introduces about a dozen new items a month and offers no sales. Instead, it offers a low everyday price point.

Trader Joe's is also committed to selling healthier items. The company's private labeled foods are free of artificial flavors or preservatives, synthetic colors, MSG, GMOs, or partially hydrogenated oils. The company has grown into a bit of an obsession with shoppers, who like the smaller stores; the friendly, well-trained staff; and the ability to return anything they buy for any reason — even if it's open and half-eaten.

This is another in a line of expansion into the southeast Florida market for Trader Joe's, with the first opening in Pinecrest in Miami-Dade in October 2013. Since then, Trader Joe's has opened in Wellington, Palm Beach Gardens, Delray Beach, Boca Raton, and Pembroke Pines. A Fort Lauderdale store, to be located at 1590 N. Federal Highway, is opening in 2015.
