Cinco de Mayo is Saturday, and there are many ways you can choose to celebrate what often devolves into a holiday of drinking too much and making poor decisions about one's ability to dance on a bar. (Which, more power to you: Have fun, and call a cab!)

Grateful Palate -- Funneling tequila and dancing on tabletops not your bag? This Fort Lauderdale gem will introduce a new beer list on Saturday plus holiday-appropriate bar menu specials like a chipotle shrimp tostada with mango and avocado salsa and a passion fruit vinaigrette; grilled steak tostada with black beans and rice; and a lime- and Corona-marinated chicken tostada with pico de gallo with cheddar cheese and jalapeño cream. Specials for the night include grilled mahi-mahi with dirty rice and Southwest corn salsa and lime avocado mousse and/or a lavender flan with dulce de leche and Chantilly cream.
Biergarten Boca Raton -- Drink steins of German beer and eat pretzels or order cheap Coronas and tacos at this German-Mexican fiesta from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday. Read more about the party here.
Whole Foods in Boca Raton -- Warm up for a night of drinking and dancing with free samples of various Mexican foods in every store department from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. If you've got kids, bring them in from 10 to 11 a.m. or noon to 1 p.m. for a Kids Club Cinco de Mayo party. Preregister your child by calling 561-447-0000. Participants will sample kid-friendly sangria, salsa and guac, and quesadillas.
Cinco de Mayo cooking demo -- Learn to make Mexican-inspired dishes like roasted onion, corn, and black bean salsa with cumin lime chips, shredded chicken tamales, smothered pork burrito with green chili sauce, Spanish rice, and pumpkin flan. The demo is 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Publix Apron's Cooking School in Boca Raton, and the cost is $40 per person. Register online, or call 561-994-4883.
