Whole Foods Market in Boca Raton is celebrating a dozen years in the community. The grocery chain that sells environmentally conscious foods and sustainable seafood is also a good neighbor, giving back to charitable organizations in the community.

For its birthday celebration, Whole Foods Market is helping the Tri-County Humane Society raise funds to feed and shelter the dogs and cats in their care.

Recently, the Tri-County Humane Society made a trip to Oklahoma to rescue 65 dogs and 15 cats from overcrowded animal shelters in Oklahoma City, making room for those shelters to house animals found in the aftermath of the deadly tornado that leveled many communities.

Whole Foods Market is planning an entire weekend of activities, many of them benefiting the shelter. In addition, Tri-County Humane is bringing some adoptable dogs on Sunday for a "meet and greet". Who knows? Maybe now that you finally moved out of the house, dad may want to adopt a new son or daughter on Father's Day -- this time one that comes with a tail.

Here's the complete schedule of events:

Friday, June 14

5 to 7 p.m.: Traditional Hawaiian Luau. Enjoy island favorites for $5 at the outdoor cafe.

Saturday, June 15

Noon to 2 p.m.: Storewide smackdown competition (free)

3 to 5 p.m.: Brew for You! Enjoy a special Father's Day beer and wine sampling for just a $5 donation to the Tri-County Humane Society.

Sunday, June 16

Noon to 3 p.m.: Father's Day grill out. It's free for Dad's and a $5 donation to the Tri-County Humane Society for all others.

Also, adoptable pets from the recent Oklahoma rescue will be on hand for a 'Meet and Greet.'

5 p.m.: Cake cutting and champagne toast with free cake and champers for everyone in the specialty department.
