Perhaps one of Delray Beach's most underestimated hangouts, restaurant and bar 3rd and 3rd is coming up on its first year of business. Still no sign, you'll need good directions -- or the help of a friend who knows the spot well -- to find this clandestine, low-key hangout. That is if the crowd gathering both in and around the building doesn't draw your attention first. To celebrate a successful year in business, 3rd and 3rd will be hosting an anniversary party this Friday, February 21 from 4:30 p.m. to close.

While the year has brought success, it's also ushered a series of big changes -- mainly behind scenes from new executive chef Ellis Cooley and manager Alan Brown, both playing an integral part to 3rd and 3rd's overwhelming success, according to owner Jean Paul Kline.

There are also new menu items to match, selections that range from several starters and salads, bright colors and flavors including a purple kale paired with pickled watermelon and strawberry mint vinaigrette, or a local heirloom roasted beet salad. Main courses are small sharing plates, and include braised short ribs, a smoked pork sandwich, duck confit and seared scallops. Don't forget the famous seared burger, winner of New Times best burger last year, served up on a brioche bun any way you like it. We're happy to see the past year hasn't done away with owner Jean Paul Kline's signature skewers, including a sweet combination of shrimp and chorizo, hanger steak or pan-seared chicken.

The drink menu has grown-up, as well, offering more than 15 craft beer selections on draught and in the bottle. There's also over a dozen specialty drinks that are both creative and flavorful, each made with high-quality, infused liquors, bitters, house made juices and fresh herbs from the backyard garden created by Delray Beach's own "Farmer Jay." There's an acai-infused caipirinha and an organic vodka cocktail with ginger beer, lime and dried cranberries.

Kline says the party will be one to remember, but really it is a "just a huge thank you to everyone that has helped [the restaurant] along." There will be live music by local acts Chucka, Reggae Man and Girlfriend Material. The event will also feature free appetizers all night long,
