We're counting down to 89. Meatballs at Cafe Martorano

One of the coveted Sunday tickets for South Beach Wine and Food Fest was Barilla Sunday Supper. Steve Martorano of Cafe Martorano and Michael D'Andrea of Macaluso's in Miami Beach joined New York folks from the Meatball Shop and the Standard Hotel to present an array of meatballs, among other Italian red sauce delights. Martorano's meatballs are among the favorites in South Florida, created from a recipe that elevates a simple 'ball to a decadent bite, thanks in part to Sunday gravy.

Speaking of decadent: An evening at Martorano isn't priced for everyday eating, but his up-and-coming food trucks will be. His people tell us he's considering taking over the menu of a truck that's on the road now, and he's incubating ideas for a truck of his own. Mobile meatballs? We can't wait. Two weeks, we're told, until we'll get the update.
