Celebrations begin at 5:30 p.m. April 16 for the grand opening of Lime Fresh Mexican Grill's Midtown Miami location (3201 N. Miami Ave.). Free beer samples from Dos XX will be on tap. There will be complimentary hors d'oeuvres, cocktails and, tacos, and a mariachi band promises to be on hand to annoy people. Most important, Lime will present a check for $2,000 to the Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-a-Pet, in addition to raising money for and giving 1 percent of its April sales to this great group.

Lime originated on South Beach in 2004 and has since expanded to North Miami Beach, Pembroke Pines, and Coconut Creek. The ownership group plans a sixth location near the University of Miami, and its expansion blueprints call for establishing a minimum of ten new stores per year starting right around now.

In related news, Taco Bell has announced a partnership with the Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-a-Pet to try to find a home for its Chihuahua. Gracias a dios.
