Angelo and Maxie's Steakhouse

Just when it looked as if all the really good meal deals were happening in Miami-Dade County, Angelo and Maxie's Steakhouse (CityPlace, 651 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach, 561-833-6550) weighs in on the subject. A new prix fixe menu offers three courses, starting with soup or caesar salad and ending with cheesecake or ice cream for $20.99. The price is especially reasonable if you consider that entrées include the choice of an eight-ounce filet mignon, an eleven-ounce New York strip, or a two-pound chicken breast. Of course, there's a catch, and that's not referring to catch of the day. The $20.99 deal is good only on weekdays from noon till 3 p.m. or during early-bird suppertime from 5 till 6:30 p.m. But while the latter time may sound inconvenient, it's also a plus: Two pounds of poultry sure beats two hours of sitting in rush-hour traffic.
