For West Broward craft beer and wine lovers, Bash Wine Cafe & Catering has been the longtime go-to for good beer, nice wine, and delicious home-cooked food.

That hasn't changed. The spot recently moved to a new location, slightly changed its name -- it's now Bash American Bistro - -and is in the process of an upgrade. It's holding its official Grand Opening on Friday.

Just as always, Bash will focus on providing customers with a wide range of high-quality craft beers. Due to the long-term existing relationship with Cigar City Brewing, the spot is one of the few places in South Florida to carry the brewery's limited-selection beers. The bar plans to keep at least six Cigar City Beers on tap at all times.

The restaurant is also working on developing a relationship with the currently expanding South Florida brewery Funky Buddha. Bash is working on becoming one of the few restaurants to which the brewery distributes. The spot likes highlighting local craft beers.

As for the menu, chef Shannon Weiberg is already working on offering more creative specials. Currently, the printed menu has stayed the same. Favorites like the $22 "Fall Off the Bone" beef short ribs, marinated in Coca-Cola; the $19 Ephemere Apple Beer Marinated Lollipop Pork Chop, served with a Granny Smith Chutney; and the $17 Bourbon Street Chicken, crusted with pecans and topped with a bourbon mustard sauce, are still available. But the menu, which changes quarterly based on what is available, will be overhauled in a month. Regardless, the place is looking to bring in some new items that have not been featured previously: pork belly, a larger steak selection, more seafood.

The restaurant will continue on with its popular pairing events. Beer versus Wine, a dinner in which both a beer and a wine are paired with each course in a competition to determine which pairs better, will take place bi-annually on the solstices starting in winter--December 21. In April, the spot will continue with its monthly beer and wine pairing dinners, featuring multiple tapas-sized courses matched to appropriate beers or wines. For the beer dinners, Chef Weiberg places a large emphasis on incorporating beer into the actual dishes themselves.

The restaurant started back up with a soft opening last week. However, the official grand opening will be taking place on Friday. The mayor of Sunrise will be present with a barbershop quartet for the ribbon cutting. Taking place from 5 to 7 p.m., the event is open to the public. The spot is currently taking dinner reservations for afterward.

The new location will be open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week. Brunch will be offered in about a month. The new address is 10053 Sunset Strip in Sunrise.
