We need your help and your appetite. New Times is looking for a judge for the second annual Junior Achievement World Uncorked!, a swanky event on January 21 at Broward College from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Details after the jump.
What It Is: A food, wine, spirits, craft beer, and dessert
tasting. This year's speakeasy theme showcases cocktails at a bathtub gin bar from Southern Wine & Spirits of Florida.
Chefs from Yolo, Timpano Italian Chop House, Morton's, The Capital
Grille, and Elevation Burger among others will offer bites. And
Burger Beast will host a burger battle between Rok:Brgr, Elevation Burger,
Charm City Burgers, Burger Bar by Chef Allen, and Quickie's. Publix's
Apron Cooking School and Brown Distributing will whip up food and beer
pairings. There's also a baking competition for culinary students from
the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale who compete for a scholarship.
What We Need: Our judge will score a pair of VIP tickets. The task is to judge the food based on
taste, presentation, and creativity. The results will be published the following day on our
food blog, Clean Plate Charlie.
You'll also receive an invitation to our post event Champagne,
Cocktails and Caviar.
To win the judging slot, in the comments,
seduce us with a description of your favorite dessert and where we can
taste it for ourselves. We'll pick a winner next Wednesday.
Please be sure to leave your email in the comments so we have a way to
contact you to let you know you've won.
If you'd like to attend, tickets are $150 and can be picked up at will call. Proceeds go toward scholarships for Junior Achievement.
