If you're reading this blog right now, we're going to assume that you have some kind of food fetish -- this is a food blog, obviously. Whether you can cater to said fetish through your own culinary skills is a whole other thing than mere eating.
As with most things in life, wine tends to inhibit your fears and improve your skills; if you're a mediocre cook, you might want to drink up -- and possibly take a class or two.
For anyone looking to learn a few kitchen tricks whilst consuming an adult bevvy or two, Blue Moon Fish Co. is starting up a cooking course series on Wednesday night.
Starting this week, the restaurant will be offering the classes from 6 to 8 p.m., on the third Wednesday of the month through November. Taught by executive chefs Bryce Statham and Baron Skorish, each class will take guests through the ins and outs of four seafood centric-courses of Blue Moon's most popular dishes with wine pairings to match.
The pair decided to start up the series due to the success of past cooking courses.
"We always like sharing what we do and it is something we did in the past and guests loved the chemistry we have and we really have fun cooking with Chef Bryce [Statham]" said Skorish.
This week Skorish and Statham will be going over "The Big Easy" seafood gumbo, pan seared diver sea scallops with hearts of palm salad, lump crab and corn roasted grouper, and bread pudding with Ferrari Carrano wines.
On October 16 autumnal dishes will be paired with Rodney Strong wines. The November class (on the 20th) will go over new holiday meals paired with wine from B.R. Cohn.
Guests will be given a recipe to take home after the instruction.
The cost to attend is $65.
