Canned Beer Pairing, Cigar City Brewing Dinner, and Other Food and Drink Events This Week in South Florida

Beer, beer, beer: There are still about two weeks until New Times' Beerfest, but you can prepare for the event with one of the beer-focused events planned this week in Broward and Palm Beach counties. Of course, there are other food and drink goings-on, but beer certainly takes center stage. After the jump, a look at a few events this week in South Florida.


Half-Off Ravioli at Brio for National Ravioli Day -- Brio Tuscan Grille at The Village at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach and The Shops at Pembroke Gardens in Pembroke Pines will offer half-off their ravioli dishes -- ravioli cheese, mushroom ravioli, or lobster and shrimp ravioli -- in honor of National Ravioli Day. The offer is good from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.


Canned Beer Pairing in Jupiter -- Das Dog in Jupiter will host a four-course canned beer pairing with each "craft" canned beer paired with a hot dog from the Das Dog menu. The dinner is at 7 p.m. and the cost is $20 per person. Call 561-222-4674 to reserve a spot.

RA's Spring Luau -- RA Sushi in Palm Beach Gardens will serve tropical themed food and drink specials for their spring luau party from 8 to 11 p.m. Special menu items include a tropical roll (mango, cucumber, avocado, spinach tempura, spicy shrimp, with masago and mango salsa) and pineapple cheese wontons.


Cigar City Brewing Dinner -- A four-course dinner pairing each dish with a Cigar City brew. Example: the first course is avocado crab cakes with passion fruit tartar sauce and Hotter than Helles and the third course is Humidor Indian Pale Ale with tobacco-rubbed strip steak with brandy cream sauce. The cost is $45 per person plus tax and tip. The dinner is at 8 p.m. at Tabica Grill in Jupiter. Reserve a spot at 561-747-0108.

Boca Bacchanal -- The Boca Bacchanal is this weekend with events planned Friday through Sunday at various locations throughout southern Palm Beach County. Events include the Vintner Dinners, the Bacchus Bash (on Saturday), and The Grand Tasting (Sunday).


Dogfish Head "Heaven and Hell" Tap Takeover in Delray Beach -- The Coffee District is hosting a Dogfish Head tap takeover from 7 to 11:30 p.m. The coffeeshop/craft beer bar will have nearly a dozen Dogfish Head brews on tap, plus eight by the bottle. The bar may add more brews to the menu as the event approaches.

Asian Trade, Food Fair, and Cultural Show -- Eat, drink, and take in the cultural sights at this weekend-long event in downtown Delray Beach. The festival is noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Old School Square Cultural Art Center. Admission is $10 per person.

Third Annual Haitian Empty Bowls Project -- Purchase a handmade bowl -- created by a local artist -- and head to participating restaurants and specialty food stores in downtown Lake Worth between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for food samples. There are twenty participating establishments and all of the proceeds will benefit children in Haiti. Each bowl is $25 in advance or $80 for four bowls. The day-of price is $35 per bowl.
