A bottle-flipping Tom Cruise -- circa Cocktail -- still reigns as one of the best celebrity drink slingers of all time, but it doesn't mean he's the only worthy contender.

Get your martini stirred by some of Palm Beach County's top movers and shakers at Celebrity Shake Up! Thursday at Morton's, the Steakhouse in Boca Raton.

Six celeb/guest bartenders, among them Frank Barbieri (chairman of the PBC School Board) and Marie Speed (editor of Boca Magazine), will work with Morton's bartenders to mix up your favorite cocktails along with their own libation creations.

The event -- part of Boca Festival Days -- is 5 to 7 p.m. and benefits the Best Foot Forward Foundation. Admission is $25 if you order by Wednesday and $40 at the door. Price includes two drinks and hors d'oeuvres. Reserve a spot -- 561-470-8300 or mortons.com/bocaraton/.

Keep New Times Broward-Palm Beach Free... Since we started New Times Broward-Palm Beach, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of South Florida, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering South Florida with no paywalls.
