The West Coast gets a lot of love in the craft beer world, but the Sunshine State slowly is emerging as a respectable source of quality quaffs.

You can learn about one of the state's most recognizable brewers at The Cigar City Beer Tasting event Friday at the Whole Foods Market in Boca Raton.

Phil Palmisam, a South Florida rep for the Tampa-based brewery, will guide guests through various brews and give recommendations on food pairings.

The evening is $5 and guests are asked to pre-register by calling 561-447-0000. The tasting is 6:30 to 8 p.m.
