CLOSED: Bellini's Coal Fired Pizza in Fort Lauderdale to Relocate Downtown?

The fire -- the coal fire, at least -- is out at Bellini's Coal Fired Pizza restaurant in Fort Lauderdale.

After opening its doors more than a year ago off North Federal Highway, the establishment -- whose coal-fired crusts needed a little "refining," according to New Times' former food critic, John Linn -- unexpectedly closed up shop recently with no word as to why.

Both the restaurant's website and Facebook page are still up and running, however, which leaves us wondering: Will they be reopening? With postings on each site as recently as May 27, it's possible.

Attempts to contact representatives by phone were unsuccessful, and both lines to the business have been disconnected. Still, although there are no messages or recordings hinting to a reopening, a source from a neighboring business said Bellini's owners are in the process of moving on to find "a better location closer to downtown Fort Lauderdale."

Charlie will keep you posted on updates.
