The new shop is located at 3325 S. University Dr. in Davie within the Rolling Hills Executive Center Plaza, near Nova Southeastern University and HCA Florida University Hospital.
What Makes Potbelly's Sandwiches Special?
At a glance, Potbelly's menu doesn't try to reinvent the wheel — but that's part of the appeal. The chain started in a Chicago antique shop in 1977, where the owner, Peter Hastings, began selling sandwiches alongside vintage potbelly stoves. The food quickly became the main draw, eclipsing the antiques and setting the tone for a national chain. Ever since, Potbelly has carved out a niche serving toasted sandwiches that land somewhere between classic deli and comfort food. Its best-known item, the "A Wreck," layers multiple meats (turkey breast, hickory-smoked ham, Angus roast beef, and salami) with Swiss cheese on house-baked bread, then runs it through a toaster for a signature crunch. Other mainstays include the meatball sandwich and the "Mediterranean," featuring grilled chicken, feta, zesty hummus, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, and cucumbers.
Salads, soups, fresh-baked cookies, and ice cream milkshakes round out the menu. There is also a "pick-your-pair" option that lets diners mix and match sandwiches, salads, and soups.
The First of 14 Broward County Shops
Behind the move is franchisee Rami Boaziz, CEO of Stellar Hospitality, whose hospitality portfolio includes partnerships with major brands like Marriott, Hyatt, and Starbucks. The Davie store is the first of 14 Potbelly locations Boaziz plans to open in Broward County."I grew to love Potbelly while living in Chicago, and I'm thrilled to bring its signature menu to Davie," said Boaziz. The Davie opening comes amid a larger push by Potbelly to grow its presence in Florida. More than 80 shops are under development agreements across areas including Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Tampa, Sarasota-Bradenton, Fort Myers-Naples, Orlando, Gainesville, Ocala, Jacksonville, and Panama City Beach.
